Q post-op

All done now. Took 4 hours ! It was more complex than expected. But we're hoping for a good result. He took aaaages to wake up afterwards but has been smiling & happy since opening his eyes.

He has to stay over night as he has a drain.

They did some complicated muscle graft to try fill up the mastoid cavity so he has a drain for that, and I expect it will hurt too. They hope this will help to stabilise his ear though, so it does not stay 'wet' and disrupt the cartilage plate which holds the implant in place.

    I read your previous post, it all sounds so complicated...hope he's doing ok this weekend and this is the last op in a looooooooooooooong while!
