Thinking & Feeling

Relationships - are they all finite?

It saddens me so much when I see what appear to be strong and good relationships straining and breaking.

Recently I have heard of 5 break-ups. 2 long term marriages and 3 serious relationships on the cusp of long-term commitment (moving in, marriages and babies). All of these have come as a gut-punch shock to me.

Something inside me breaks and a little more of my hope dies each time I hear this kind of news.

Part of me really wants to believe that happy ever after story. But I am slowly but surely losing faith in the construct of long-term successful co-habiting relationship.

Do you think it is possible to have a truly GOOD and SUSTAINABLE and HAPPY long term relationship?

  1. Yes, I do believe... but it takes constant work and committment. :)

  2. OH yes, I am so happily in one - we wil be married for 12 years in December. BUT it takes hard work, commitment and a whole lot of humble pie on both sides. I do believe that people are these days just not trying hard enough, if that makes sense.
